Many people say that eating healthy and organic are too expensive. Here we are, though, in the Natural State, with wild berries and greens; pecans and walnuts; and tomatoes, gourds, peppers, and melon--all growing like wildfire around us. The Historic Downtown Hot Springs Farmers' Market, twice weekly throughout summertime and beyond, has a large number of local and state-wide farmers who sell their produce here, and at great prices. And while most, if not all, of these farmers are not certified organic, they do take great measures to avoid the use of unnatural pesticides on their plants. By not jumping through financial hoops for that golden-ticket certified labeling, they can keep their prices low. A winning situation for us, the consumers, as long as they continue with their truth-in-labeling practices. Much of our produce at In the Raw comes from these lovely farms, and we are proud to support the local community in this way.
We're now developing a mini-menu for our drive-thru window. Sometimes you're hangry and need a quick bite at an affordable price, and a dollar burger isn't really what you should be eating. Maybe you're craving a light, quick lunch and want to avoid anything greasy or heavy. Or maybe you've got all the kids and their friends in the car and need to find something budget-friendly to feed everyone something healthy in a hurry before a game or a dance recital. Whatever you've got going on, we'll have you covered on the food front.
These last few weeks have afforded our staff to really learn to work well together, acquire the special skills it takes to prepare our food, and get used to high-volume, time-crunched food service. I am very comfortable that we will be able to implement our drive-thru menu to rival even the fastest of fast-food restaurants while being wallet- and waistline-friendly. And for those who want a lovely, sit-down dining experience, our pretty full-service patio will be a great place for lunch or dinner with friends or family. It's the best of both worlds, and we can't wait to share our cuisine in both capacities with all the citizens of Hot Springs.
Until then, Eat Raw, Live Long!
