Take this week's chosen nonprofit organization that In the Raw Test Kitchen & Juice Bar is supporting at our pop-up restaurant event on Saturday night: Ali's Angels Foundation. This local group is planning great things for Hot Springs, one of which is a barrier-free playground so that children in wheelchairs are able to interact with other children in a fun setting. The large building next to the playground will be used as transitional housing for those who are visiting with their disabled children for medical treatment at area hospitals and clinics, and this is a place where In the Raw food truck will be able to pull right up to the curb to provide free or discounted meals to feed these visitors. Children with special needs must have quality, healthy food to help their own bodies to heal or treat themselves, and I am honored to be able to be a cog in the wheel that makes Ali's Angels as beneficial as possible for these families--synergy at its finest.
On another note, the brake boosters are being rebuilt in the next state over, and as we wait, I am believing that it is a blessing in disguise. The last few weeks have been an opportunity for me to find a fantastic staff, train them in preparing gourmet raw cuisine, work out kinks in our operation, develop solid relationships with our vendors, and allow members of the community to get a broad feel of how amazing raw foods can be. I've learned that I am totally down with catering and pop-up events--it gives me a chance to get creative with food and also hone my organization skills; and it gives my staff the time they need to really learn how to make raw vegan gourmet cuisine, handle high volumes in a short amount of time, and learn to tune into each other as a team. Once again, this itself is synergy in a workplace setting, and it's happening again this weekend at Whittington Place in Hot Springs in the most zen of spaces.
These pop-ups will be wrapping up soon, and I'm going to miss them. It's given me a chance to meet some of the loveliest people who I feel will become loyal customers, as long as we continue to strive for excellent customer service and high-quality cuisine at affordable prices. On the other hand, I'm also chomping at the bit to finish up this food truck, so we can travel around and share our love of raw foods with Hot Springs and Arkansas and even the U.S. at large. Because deep down in my heart, I wanna change the world. Don't we all?
Until next time, Eat Raw, Live Long!
