So, Friday we're launching our Fall menu. I'd intended to launch it on Monday, but I got overwhelmed with my very ambitious menu, which required a buckwheat flatbread on most menu items that I just can't perfect. While the sauces, chutney, hummus, and snack foods turned out great, I realized that this buckwheat flatbread is going to be a difficult endeavor, not just in the recipe itself, but in semantics in our tiny workspace. In time, dear Marci, in time.
On another note, a customer of In the Raw is doing a 30-day raw food challenge to see if he can get his cholesterol down. A pescatarian, his eating habits have backslid, and as of late, he's been munching on sodium-laden chips and sugar-laden donuts and such. As of October 1, he's committed to one juice, one blender, and one raw meal a day from our food truck. He's on day 5 now, and when he's finished, I'll talk about his results. So far, so good. He says he wakes up feeling refreshed and his mood levels have improved. Also, he did a quick blood pressure check at the local pharmacy today, and he'd gone from 135 to 117, which he hasn't been at for years. All in just 5 days.... I'm interested to see his final results, because while I have experienced the benefits, it's great to see others reaping the rewards of following a raw foods lifestyle, as well.
And while good things are happening, I still wish these things would happen sooner. I work alone for now to play catch-up on bills, and the truck is cleaner than ever, which I truly appreciate, but I have to remind myself that patience, attention to detail, and hard work are what truly make any business solid. And so I go through the day, doing the best that I can to see In the Raw succeed, because every time I see a person's face light up after trying one of our new blenders or dishes, I know that I'm on the right track--a track that took quite some time to find.
Until next time, Eat Raw, Live Long!
